This is our last week to review La traviata before the Opera Company of Philadelphia’s production which premiers on Friday May 7th with the Student dress rehearsal as soon as this coming Wednesday, May 5th! On Saturday, April 24th, the Opera Company of Philadelphia teamed up with the Reading Terminal Market Italian Festival for a large-scale " Flash Opera " event! Over 30 members of the Opera Company of Philadelphia Chorus and principal cast members of La traviata performed the famed "Brindisi" in the aisles of Reading Terminal Market, entertaining hundreds of Philadelphians, and proving that the perfect accompaniment for all things Italian is a little Verdi! Allison Sanders , soprano Today, we bring you the Adopt a Singer Program! This blog is written by one of the cast members of Traviata , Allison Sanders . Allison is a student at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and plays the role of Flora in the opera. Allison's Blog April 12th, Today was our meet and greet for the opera Traviata . I haven’t been feeling well but I wanted to come to the meet and greet to see my cast mates and attempt to sing. Something must be in the air because two people of the cast were out because of illness. Robert Driver didn’t skip a beat, so instead of doing the first act, which was on the schedule, he moved to the second act of the opera. This will give us all about two days to try and get better. YouTube Clip of the Week La Traviata was made into a movie in 1983, directed by Franco Zeffirelli , starring Canadian soprano Teresa Stratas as Violetta Valery and Spanish tenor Placido Domingo as Alfredo.
