What an incredibly moving performance of Verdi's Requiem! My classmates and I enjoyed the opportunity seeing such impressive talent performing this moving masterpiece. Thanks for this opportunity, Opera Philadelphia Sounds of Learning!

No sound, only echoing granite before that day,
A tiny atom’s sound could be sensed.
If I happened to catch sight of this wasteland,
No thought of tempests would inhabit my mind.
Yet despite my tranquil understanding,
Our Lord Jesus in glory will descend.
Although his heart with compassion is filled
Some subjects will in fire and grime disintegrate.
Every rock will break at the sound, as from a tremor,
And being will emerge from the muck.
The spirit of vitality will be washed over them,
When they see the Christ, on the ground will they plummet.
All will be in fear and awestruck by the Lamb’s majesty,
But he will not judge them by the state they’re in.
The criteria to meet is a life of having trust in the Omnipotent.
Hell can only be the final destination if your faith is abandoned.
Some cases on Earth are unjustly decided,
But Dies Irae, all mortals shall be given only what they deserve.
A percentage shall be sent to the celestial clouds.
Still others will be shoved into th coal-black pit of fire.
