Opera Online - Madama Butterfy Week 5

Welcome to Opera Online!

This is the last week for us to look at Giacomo Puccini's tragic Madama Butterfly.

Many of you will be attending the final dress rehearsal of the opera on Wednesday, October 7th at 2 PM. We hope you enjoy the experience!

Our Clip of the Week features the final moments of the opera. Butterfly has lost everything - her mother and relatives, her husband, her child, and even her honor. She has only one option left for her: hari-kari.

In this scene Butterfly urges her son, Trouble, to forgive her for abandoning him. She helps restore her honor by doing this dramatic act.
